HANDING OVER CEREMONY OF NEW BUILDING OF ZAY YA THU KHA MONASTIC MIDDLE SCHOOL

CONSTRUCTED UNDER JAPAN 'S GRASS-ROOTS HUMAN SECURITY PROJECTS SCHEME IN MINGYAN, MANDALAY REGION ”

The Government of Japan, under its Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects(GGP/GGA) Scheme , granted US$106,121 for a humanitarian program entitled “ The Project for Construction of Zay Ya Thu Kha Monastic Middle School in Mandalay Region. ” The handing-over ceremony took place on 30 January 2012 at the above monastic middle school.

 

The handing-over ceremony was attended by Mr. Kiyotomi TADA, Second Secretary of the Embassy of Japan , Dr. Tin Hlaing, Chairman of Zay Ya Thu Kha Monastic Middle School Construction Committee, Bhaddanta Arseinna, Representative Monk of Zay Ya Thu Kha Monastic Middle School and other responsible officials from respective organizations, and local residents.

 

This monastic school has charged low school fees in providing formal education so that it attracted more than one thousand five hundred students, but due to the shortage of classrooms, the school could not accept all the students and some of them were forced to be taught in the monastery .

 

The two-storey reinforced concrete school building, which comprises of 6 classrooms, toilets and school furniture, was funded under the GGP (GGA) scheme to enable the monastic school to provide a better learning environment. This assistance will benefit students in their pursuit of formal studies, and further strengthen existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar.
