THE JAPANESE GOVERNMENT’S GRANT ASSISTANCE FOR GRASS-ROOTS HUMAN SECURITY PROJECTS FOR

“THE PROJECT FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THA DHU MA NITA MONASTIC PRIMARY SCHOOL IN AYEYARWADY REGION”

The Government of Japan , under its Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects (GGP/GGA) Scheme , has decided to extend an assistance of US$ 95,007 for a humanitarian assistance program entitled ” The Project for Construction of Tha Dhu Ma Nita Monastic Primary School in Ayeyarwady Region ”.

 

Mr. Ichiro Maruyama , Minister- C ounsellor/Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Japan in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar , and U Naing Win , Chairmen of Tha Dhu Ma Nita Monastic Primary School Management Committee , signed the grant contract on 29 February 201 2.

 

Thadu Manita monastic primary school opened in 1989 by using a monastery. It was opened for orphan and poor children in order for them to basic education and religious training to be well-mannered. Then , the No (1) and No (2) temporary sheds w ere built in 2010 and 2011 by the PTA and parents. The school buildings were constructed by using a palm roof, bamboo mat wall and bamboo post so the buildings were damaged a year's time to cope with the rain y season, a rain and wind proof school building is actually needed for the students. Under these circumstances , the abbot and PTA made their best effort s to construct a new school building ; however, they were fac ed with financial difficulties.

 

In such circumstances, the Government of Japan has decided to provide funding for the construction of a school building, toilets, and school furniture for Tha Dhu Ma Nita Monastic Primary School through its (GGP/GGA) Programme. It is expected that this assistance w ill provide the students with better learning conditions, and further strengthen existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar.
