THE JAPANESE GOVERNMENT’S GRANT ASSISTANCE FOR GRASS-ROOTS HUMAN SECURITY PROJECTS FOR “THE PROJECT FOR CONSTRUCTION OF WINKA VILLAGE PRIMARY SCHOOL IN MON STATE”

The Government of Japan , under its Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects (GGP/GGA) Scheme , has decided to extend an assistance of US$ 87,613 for a humanitarian assistance program entitled “ The Project for Construction of Winka Village Primary School in Mon State ”.

 

Mr. Ichiro Maruyama , Minister-Counsellor/Deputy Chief of Mission of The Embassy of Japan in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar , and U Win Myint , Chairman of Winka Village Primary School Management Committee , signed the grant contract on 29 February 2012 .

 

Winka Village Basic Primary School was established in 1990.School committee and parents constructed the school with an iron roof and wood in 1991. Now, the school building became so old and damaged even in maintenance so that there is difficult place for study and worried in safety for the school children. Moreover, there is inadequate school furniture and lack of toilet with health relevance. According to this situation, school committee and parents of children would like to construct the new school building. However, they wer e faced with financial difficulties.

 

Under such circumstances, the Government of Japan has decided to provide funding for the construction of a school building, toilets, and school furniture for Winka Village Primary School through its GGP/GGA Programme. It is expected that this assistance w ill provide the students with better learning conditions, and further strengthen existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar.
