The Government of Japan implemented the operation for the cancellation of Arrears for Myanmar. The details enclosed in the attachment.

These measures are taken based upon the conceptual approach agreed between both countries, in consideration of the recent Myanmar’s efforts in democratization, national reconciliation, and economic and social reform.

The Government of Japan believes that it is important to continue to support reform efforts of the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, and in this respect, Japan will implement its development assistance to Myanmar in wide range of areas including resumption of new ODA loans for the sustainable economic development of Myanmar. At the same time, Japan is determined to continue to take a leading role in the international community for the effective implementation of foreign assistance to Myanmar.
