
The Government of Japan, under its Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGP) Scheme, granted US$102,350 and US$102,597for humanitarian programsentitled “The Project for Construction of Community Road between Kawt War Su and Shwe Pyitaung Villages in Hpa-an Township, Kayin State” and “The Project for Construction of Sub Rural Health Centers of Naung Palein, Kawt Than Khar and Ka Mawt Ka Zin Villages in Hpa-an Township, Kayin State” respectively. The hand-over and opening ceremony of these community road and three sub rural health centerswere held on March12 and 14, 2013 at project site in Hpa-an Township.
At the ceremonyon March 14, Mr. Go NAKAYA,the Second Secretary of the Embassy of Japan together with the local people attended and at the ceremony, the Second Secretarytogether with H.E. U Zaw Min, Kayin State Minister, Hpa-an Township Sub Rural Health Center Planning Committeemembers and local people attended respectively.
The fund from the Japanese Government covers the 4.5 meters wide and 5 kilometers long laterite road between Kawt War Su Village and Shwe Pyi Taung Village and four small RC bridges through its GGP Scheme; and 3 RC Sub Rural Health Center buildings of 74 square meters each at Naung Palein, Kawt Than Khar and KaMawtKaZin Villages in Hpa-an Township under the same scheme.
Now, both construction projects have successfully completed and hand-over and opening ceremonies was held for the happiness of the local people.It is expected that theseassistance willprovide thebetter social, health care, education and economic development of local Kayin people. Moreover, these assistance are believed to further strengthen existing friendly relations betweenJapan and Myanmar.
