
H.E. Mr.Mikio NUMATA, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, and Chairmen of one Bridge and three School Construction Committees signed grant contracts of total amount US494,613 on March 15, 2013under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects(GGP)Scheme.
The grant assistance for four projects funded by the GGP Scheme are as follows:-
1) US$120,159 for Construction of Community Bridge between Inn Hmiand Ywa Gyi Villages in Kalaw Township, Shan State
2) US$117,668 for Construction of Nan Han Nwe Village Basic Education Middle School in Kalay Township, Sagaing Region
3) US$149,032 for Construction of Tan Ta Lang Basic Education Branch High School in Tan Ta Lang Township, Chin State
4) US$107,754 for Construction of Palaw Basic Education Primary School No. 7 in Palaw Township, Taninthari Region
The Government of Japan has decided to provide funding for the construction of40 feet long and 20 feet wide two lanes RC bridge for the community bridge between Inn Hmi and Ywa Gyi Villages on Heho - Baw Hnin road in Kalaw Township, Shan State;two numbers of 80’x30’building with toilets, walkway and school furniture for Nan Han Nwe Village Basic Education Middle School in Kalay Township, Sagaing Region; two storied 72’x26’ building, toilets, water supply and school furniture for Tan Ta Lang Basic Education Branch High School in Chin State; and one storied 110’x30’ building with school furniture for Palaw Basic Education Primary School No. 7 in Palaw Township, Taninthari Region through its GGP Scheme.
It is expected that theses assistance will provide better transport facilities for local ethnic people on Heho-Baw Hnin road in Kalaw Township and the students in Kalay, Tan Ta Lang and Palaw Townships with better learning environment; and further strengthen existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar.
