
H.E.Mr.Mikio NUMATA, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, and Chairmen of each School Building Construction Committee, signed four grant contracts of total amount US$686,451on March 18, 2013under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects(GGP) Scheme.
The grant assistance for four projects funded by the GGP Scheme are as follows:-
1) US$104,518for Construction of Si Tar Pu Kindergarten in Myitkyina Township, Kachin State
2) US$352,969 for Construction of No. 1 Basic Education High School in Myitkyina Township, Kachin State
3) US$118,369forConstruction of Shan Ywa Village Post Primary School in Myitkyina Township, Kachin State
4)US$110,595forfor Construction of Kyet Tu Yway Basic Education Branch High School in Henzada Township, Ayeyarwady Region
Each school has insufficient classrooms for the students and their currentbuildings are getting too old to provide good learning environment for the students. Although the Board of Trustee of each school has been seeking opportunity to construct new school buildings to solve theproblems, they had been facing financial difficulties.
It is expected that this assistance willprovide the students with better learning and sanitation environmentand further strengthen existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar.
