- 4. “The Project for Construction of Mokaung Monastic Basic Education Middle School in Mingyan Township, Mandalay Region”,US$90,489
The hand-over and opening ceremonies of the newly constructed 4 monastic primary and middle school buildings were held at each location in Mandalay Region on 13 and 14 December 2013 respectively. Mr. Toshio YAMAMOTO, Minister-Consellor of the Embassy of Japan, respective committee chairmen and committee members of each school construction project and students and local residents attended those ceremonies.
The four monastic school projects in Singu Township and Myingyan Township in Mandalay Region will benefit around 1,055 students, who are now studying under insufficient learning environment in old religious buildings.
Under such circumstances, the Government of Japan provided funding for reinforced concrete school buildings, toilets, and necessary school furniture at those monastic schools through its GGP Scheme. Japan has built 271 schools under the GGP scheme since 1998. It is expected that this assistance will provide with better learning and sanitation environment for the students of those four schools and further strengthen existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar.
