Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) will be newly held in Mandalay

The Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) started in 1984 as a test to measure and certify the Japanese-language proficiency of those whose native language is not Japanese. In Myanmar, it had been held once a year in Yangon in December.

The number of test applicants in Myanmar is rapidly increasing recently, and 4,434 people took an examination of JLPT in December 2014. It was 4th largest number, followed by Vietnam, Indonesia and Thailand, among south-east Asian countries. In consideration of the situation, JLPT is to be held in Mandalay also in July from 2015. It will make the people who are studying Japanese language around Mandalay easy to apply for JLPT.

The application forms will be available and accepted in Yangon and Mandalay at the following places as per the following schedule:

Any national, except Japanese, can sit for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT).

The Test fee is 15USD for Level N1, N2 and N3, 10USD for Level N4 and N5 with additional 1USD for each application form.

Those wishing to take the test are advised to purchase the application forms at the above relevant places and duly submit them in time.
