The Rural Health Centers in Mei Se Nan and Mawchi Villages of Kayah State, and Sub Rural Health Centers in Nam Hpyet Yang and Naung Lone Kaung Yar Villages of Kachin State are outdated with insufficient medical equipment. In Kaykaw and Sin Taung Villages of Kayah State, rented houses are used as the Rural Health Center and the Sub Rural Health Center as well as there being no separate delivery rooms, no medical storage rooms, and insufficient medical equipment. Under such circumstances, the Japanese Government, under its GGP scheme, will support construction of Rural and Sub Rural Health Center buildings with staff quarters, lavatories, medical equipments and full furniture. It is expected that the projects will benefit local people in Kachin and Kayah States with better healthcare facilities.
The Mindat Basic Education Branch High School was established in 1978. The buildings are outdated and the students are studying in congested classrooms since the number of students are increasing year by year. Under such circumstances, the Japanese Government, under its GGP scheme, will support construction of a two-storey RC building with 10 classrooms, lavatories and full furniture. It is expected that the project will benefit 898 students of the school.
The Government of Japan has assisted 720 various grass-roots projects in Myanmar under the GGP scheme since 1993, the number consisting of 328 education projects, 187 healthcare projects, 137 public welfare and environment projects, 33 infrastructure projects and 35 other projects. It is anticipated that these assistances will further strengthen the existing friendly relations between Myanmar and Japan.
