3. The Project for Construction of Rural Health Center in Mansay Village, Putao Township, Kachin State (US$170,616).
The handover ceremonies of the projects took place in Putao Township, Kachin State on 27th January 2016. Mr. Kei MAEDA, First Secretary of the Embassy of Japan, U Tun Wai, Putao District Administrator, Committee Chairmen, committee members of the construction projects, and local residents attended the ceremonies.
Due to the insufficient classrooms, students of Lon Sha Yang Basic Education Branch High School were studying in a temporary building without walls, and an unfinished school building. Under such circumstances, the Japanese Government provided funding for construction of a two-storey R.C.C building with full furniture. The project will benefit 982 students of the school.
The school building in Madam Shan Gaung Village did not have a boarded ceiling and there were holes in the Galvanized Iron (GI) sheet roof. Under such circumstances, the Japanese Government provided funding for construction of a one-storey R.C.C building with full furniture. The project will benefit 298 students of the school.
The Mansay Rural Health Center building was an old wooden building with no delivery room, nor medical storage room, and medical equipment was insufficient. Under such circumstances, the Japanese Government provided funding for construction of one Rural Health Center building with a staff quarter, lavatories, medical equipment and full furniture. The project will benefit 20,200 people from 7 villages.
The Government of Japan has assisted 747 various grass-roots projects in Myanmar under the GGP scheme since 1993; the number consisting of 345 education projects, 193 healthcare projects, 138 public welfare and environment projects, 36 infrastructure projects and 35 other projects. It is anticipated that these assistances will further strengthen the existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar.
