The Japanese Government, under its Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) Scheme, has granted US$103,084 for “The Project for Construction of War Ta Loke Kani Village Basic Education High School in Einme Township, Ayeyarwady Region”.
The handover ceremony of the project took place in Einme Township, Ayeyarwady Region on 3rd February, 2016. Mr. Satoshi NISHIZAWA, Second Secretary of the Embassy of Japan, U Mya Than, Regional Hluttaw Representative, U Aung Kyaw Htoo, Deputy Director of Ayeyarwady Region Education Department, Committee Chairman, committee members of the construction project, and local residents attended the ceremony.
The War Ta Loke Kani Village school buildings were deteriorated since they were built in 1964. Not only there were holes on the walls but also there were no windows and door leaves. Under such circumstances, the Japanese Government provided funding for construction of a two-storey R.C.C building with full furniture. The project will benefit 858 students of the school.
The Government of Japan has assisted 747 various grass-roots projects in Myanmar under the GGP scheme since 1993; the number consisting of 345 education projects, 193 healthcare projects, 138 public welfare and environment projects, 36 infrastructure projects and 35 other projects. It is anticipated that these assistances will further strengthen the existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar.
