Japan Grants 220 million yen for Project for Enhancing Protection for All Children in Myanmar

On Wednesday, 21 September, H.E. Mr. Tateshi HIGUCHI, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, and Mr. Bertrand Bainvel, Representative, UNICEF Myanmar, exchanged notes for “Project for Enhancing Protection for All Children in Myanmar”, worth JPY 220 million (approximately US$2.2 million) in Nay Pyi Taw.

This programme will support training of social workers for the prevention and redress of violence against children and violence based on gender, building capacity of the police and judges, and providing life-skill courses for adolescents in conflict affected ethnic areas in Myanmar. These activities aim to enhance understanding of protections for children and contribute to the improvement of people’s living standard in Myanmar.
