Falam Basic Education Branch High School was established in 1979 and had 3 school buildings. Due to the land subsidence caused by the groundwater, one of three school buildings had been damaged. Therefore, students had to study on two shifts with less curriculum than scheduled because of the insufficient number of classrooms. In order to provide an appropriate educational environment, the Japanese Government provided funding for construction of a two-storey Reinforced Concrete Construction (R.C.C.) building with 10 classroom, full furniture and lavatories. The project will benefit 760 students of the school.
A wooden school building built in 1974 in Hnaring Village Basic Education High School was seriously deteriorated and decayed since it had been used since 1974. The students had studied with exposure to rain and wind from holes on the ceiling. In order to secure a safe educational environment, the Japanese Government provided fund the construction of a two-storey R.C.C. building with full furniture, walkway and lavatories. The project will benefit 435 students of the school.
The Government of Japan has assisted 811 various grass-roots projects in Myanmar under the GGP scheme since 1993: the number consisting of 397 education projects, 198 healthcare projects, 138 public welfare and environment projects, 43 infrastructure projects and 35 other projects.
