Daw Ka Mee Village Basic Education Post Primary School is located in Demoso Township, Kayah State. Since the existing school building could not accommodate all the students, 80 students had to study in temporary huts which are seriously deteriorated. Due to lack of proper walling, students were exposed to rain and wind during their studies in these temporary huts. In order to provide an appropriate educational environment, the Government of Japan under its GGP scheme has provided funding for construction of a one-storey reinforced concrete building with 4 classrooms, full furniture, lavatories and water supply. The project benefits 252 students attending the school.

The Government of Japan has assisted 904 grass-roots projects, including 467 education projects, 200 healthcare projects, 140 public welfare and environment projects, 61 infrastructure projects and 36 others in Myanmar under the GGP scheme since 1993. This assistance is expected to further strengthen the existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar.
