SEVEN HANDOVER CEREMONIES FOR JAPANESE GRANT ASSISTANCE HELD IN JANUARY
5 February 2020

During the month of January 2020, seven handover ceremonies were successfully held for seven projects which are supported under the Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects (GGP), totaling US $ 959,532.

The ceremony of Lel Ma Village Basic Education Middle School in Pwintbyu Township, Magway Region, was attended by Dr. Aung Moe Nyo, Chief Minister of Magway Region, and Ms. SEKINE Suzumi, Third Secretary of the Embassy of Japan.

In Lel Ma Village Basic Education Middle School, one of the school buildings was constructed 33 years ago and seriously decaying. Moreover, since other two buildings had only temporary huts which were made of bamboo and thatched roof, there was water leakage problem especially during the rainy season. Despite this, the students were studying in these buildings due to the shortage of proper classrooms. Therefore, the committee expected to have a safe learning environment for the students and requested the Embassy of Japan for assistance by GGP.
