
The Government of Japan is very much encouraged by the efforts of the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar that is steadily implementing measures to control
COVID-19. The Government of Japan intends to offer as much cooperation as possible in medical care and economic recovery in order to support such efforts of the Government of Myanmar.
The Government of Japan recently decided to provide the Republic of the Union of Myanmar with the anti-viral medicine Avigan enough to treat 100 people (12,200 tablets), and the medicine was handed over to the Ministry of Health and Sports on 23 May 2020. This assistance aims at expanding clinical study on Avigan against COVID-19 based on the request from
the Government of Myanmar.
The Government of Japan will proactively continue to provide assistance not only in the COVID-19 response but in all areas for nation building and the people of Myanmar.
