
The Government of Japan is very much encouraged by the efforts of the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar that is steadily implementing measures to control COVID-19. The Government of Japan intends to offer as much cooperation as possible in medical care and economic recovery in order to support efforts of the Government of Myanmar.
The Government of Japan greatly appreciates that the Government of Myanmar is proactively implementing various measures including the COVID-19 Economic Relief plan. In order to support such efforts, the Government of Japan has decided to start a new emergency loan programme for SMEs, which is worth approximately 5 billion Japanese yen in total.
The conditions of the programme are as follows (For more details, please see the press release by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) ).
(1) Baseline interest rate: 5.5%
(2) Eligible Items: working capital or fixed assets investments
(3) Maturity: 1 to 5 years
The Government of Japan will proactively continue to provide assistance not only in the COVID-19 response but in all areas for nation building and the people of Myanmar.
