
The 60th Anniversary Commemorative Coin Presenting Ceremony at the Embassy of Japan

The Embassy of Japan in Myanmar would like to inform that the 60th Anniversary Commemorative Coin Presenting Ceremony was held on 24th November 2014.
H.E. Mr. Tateshi HIGUCHI, Ambassador of Japan presented a commemorative silver coin (which featuring Bagan Archaeological site at the obverse and the logo of 60th Anniversary of the establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Myanmar and Japan with the representation of Padauk and Cherry flowers representation at the reverse side) to Mr.Ko Ko who designed the 60th Anniversary logo mark.

The Embassy of Japan requested the Ministry of Culture in Myanmar to design the official logo. Receiving the request, the National University of Arts and Culture (Yangon) held the intramural competition and there were 48 entries from 14 students. A logo designed by Mr.Ko Ko, has been chosen as the 60th anniversary official logo. The official logo was used for all 60th anniversary events conducted both in Myanmar and Japan through 2014.
The Ministry of Finance, Japan and Japan Mint are working on accepting of orders for production of other countries’ coins with the cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. Now, the Japan Mint has received the order for production of silver coins commemorating the“60th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Myanmar and Japan,” from the Central Bank of Myanmar. Some coins will be delivered to the Central Bank of Myanmar, and in Japan, the Japan Mint sells the coins.
