The Government of Japan announced the foreign recipients of the 2014 Autumn Imperial Decoration on November 3. Dr. Aung Kyaw and U Myint Wai, Former Presidents of Myanmar Association of Japan Alumni (MAJA), have been awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette for their significant contribution to promote goodwill between Myanmar and Japan, and enhanced understanding of Japan.This is the first time in 43 years that the Government of Japan confers a decoration upon a Myanmar citizen.

The Embassy of Japan in Myanmar will hold the Award Ceremony to recipients as per the schedule below:

Although this reception is not open to the public, the press will be allowed to come and see the ceremony from 6:00 pm.
