Japan Grants US$25 million for Upgrading Yangon Technological University and Mandalay Technological University

On July 23, His Excellency Mr. Tateshi Higuchi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, and Her Excellency Daw Lei Lei Thein, Deputy Minister for National Planning and Economic Development, signed and exchanged the Notes for a Grant Aid project in Nay Pyi Taw, amounting JPY25.8 billion (equivalent to US$25 million).
Scientific and engineering advancement are one of the cores for the industrial advancement in the country which requires speedy economic development. Myanmar governments sets Yangon Technological University and Mandalay Technological University as an ‘Centers of Excellence’ for proceeds core human resources of advanced engineering systems with practical skills.
Through this grant, the Government of Japan supports to improve research environment which strengthens the quality of education as well as the scientific researches in the two universities contributing raising the level of the engineering and technologies in the whole country.
