Border control measures update (3-day staying at a designated facility after the entry into Japan from Myanmar) (2021.9.20)
20 September 2021
In accordance with the new border control measures announced by the Japanese Government on 17 September, starting from 0 AM on 20 September, all cross-border travelers and returnees to Japan from Myanmar will be requested to stay at designated facilities for 3 days (excluding the arrival date) upon entering Japan.
- They are required to undergo a PCR test at the airport upon arrival, and then transferred to the designated facilities for 3-day stay. The expense of the stay will be free-of-charge (borne by the Japanese Government), and meals will be provided during the stay.
- On the third day of the stay, they will be required to undergo the second PCR test. Those who are tested negative will be transferred back to the airport and then released, but are still required to stay at places such as their own residence or accommodation for the remaining period of 14 days after the entry into Japan. They will also be required not to use any means of public transport during this period.
